What Happen if Imran Khan Arrest
Former Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan has been granted protective bail by a court in Lahore on February 20, 2023, providing him respite from arrest for two weeks in a case that involves charges under the country's anti-terrorism laws. The Lahore High Court granted Imran Khan protective bail until March 3, 2023.
However, on March 5, police showed up at his residence to issue an arrest warrant, leading hundreds to protest outside his home. According to the police, Khan was “avoiding” arrest after officers arrived at his home in Lahore.
If Imran Khan is arrested, it would depend on the charges brought against him and the outcome of any legal proceedings. If he is found guilty of the charges against him, he could face imprisonment or other penalties. His supporters have threatened countrywide protests if he is arrested.
What are the charges against Imran Khan
Imran Khan is facing multiple charges including graft, unlawfully selling state gifts he had received as premier and concealing the earnings from those sales. He was also charged with "terrorism" last year for remarks made at a public rally in Islamabad against police officials and a female judge. In addition, he allegedly threatened legal action against top Islamabad police officials and judge Zeba Chaudhry.
