Unfazed by Khalistanis, Indian HC in UK places bigger flag after vandalism by Amritpal supporters
Over the weekend, some supporters of Amritpal Singh vandalized the Indian High Commission in London, pulling down the national flag. In response, the Indian High Commission placed a bigger flag outside its building. The ruling BJP appealed to Sikh bodies to "isolate" Khalistani supporters and condemned the incident.
Amritpal Singh is a wanted man in India for his alleged involvement in stockpiling weapons and preparing youths to carry out suicide attacks. He and his supporters broke into a police station with swords and guns last month for the release of one of his aides, injuring six policemen in the clash. Over 110 associates of Amritpal Singh have been arrested so far.
The demand for an independent nation called Khalistan has been made by some Sikhs for decades. The movement has resulted in violent clashes between followers of Khalistan and the Indian government over the years, claiming many lives.
