Indian Flag Taken down in UK - India Disrespected - Protests in Delhi

On March 19, 2023, a group of pro-Khalistan Sikh activists vandalized the Indian High Commission in London and took down India's national flag from the building that housed the country's diplomatic mission. 

The incident was captured on video and spread across social media. The Indian government lodged a strong protest with the United Kingdom, accusing it of "indifference" to the security of Indian diplomatic premises. 

The UK deputy high commissioner in New Delhi was summoned to convey India's strong protest at the actions taken by separatist and extremist elements against the Indian High Commission in London earlier in the day.

India finds unacceptable the indifference of the UK Government to the security of Indian diplomatic premises and personnel in the UK. The Indian side said it expects the UK government to take "immediate steps to identify, arrest and prosecute each one of those involved in today's incident" and to put in place "stringent measures" to prevent such incidents from recurring.
