Jaishankar meets Russia's Sergey Lavrov on sidelines of G20 meet amid tussle over Ukraine war stand

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on the sidelines of the G20 meeting to discuss various issues, including the ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The G20 meeting is expected to focus on tensions between the US and China as well as the war in Ukraine. The conflict has been ongoing for over a year and has involved more than 100 heads of state and ministers.

Sergey Lavrov

Sergey Viktorovich Lavrov is a Russian diplomat and politician who has served as the Foreign Minister of Russia since 2004. He recently led the Russian delegation to the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting in India. Lavrov has been vocal about his opposition to what he calls the West's "hybrid war" against Moscow. He had a phone call with Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang on January 9, 2023 and met with Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs Wang Yi in Moscow on February 22, 2023.

Subrahmanyam Jaishankar is an Indian diplomat and politician who has been serving as the Minister of External Affairs of the Government of India since May 30, 2019. He holds a Ph.D. and M.Phil in International Relations and a M.A. in Political Science. Jaishankar met with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on September 27, 2022 and Under Secretary Victoria Nuland on December 15, 2022.
