AMRITPAL SINGH ARREST LATEST NEWS

Self-styled radical Sikh preacher and Khalistan sympathizer Amritpal Singh is on the run since Saturday, and Punjab Police has declared him a fugitive. A massive manhunt has been launched in Punjab to arrest him, and security has been beefed up in many places across the state. The police chased Amritpal for 20-25 km but he managed to escape. They have recovered his car from a village in Shahkot. Police have been conducting raids at multiple places in Jalandhar and Amritsar districts of Punjab where Amritpal might be hiding to avoid action.

Amritpal's supporters were moving in four vehicles, and his vehicle was at number three. The police had laid a trap but Amritpal and his aides used an alternate link road towards Jalandhar. Cops chased him in nearly four dozen vehicles.

Amritpal is believed to have boarded another vehicle and knowingly left his mobile phone in his car in an attempt to confuse the police as the cops might have traced his location. He had deserted his vehicle at a place which lies between Nakodar and Mehatpur.

The police action came a day ahead of the start of Amritpal Singh’s ‘Khalsa Wahir’ – a religious procession – from Muktsar district. Seven of Amritpal’s associates who were part of his convoy on Saturday were arrested from Batala town, Gurdaspur district.
